Ilford Omnijet Trans, which was launched at SGIA Las Vegas, is described as an inkjet alternative to the more traditional backlit silver halide products on the market.
Designed for use in aqueous wide-format printers, the substrate is claimed to offer a minimal environmental footprint when compared to halide alternatives by eliminating the need for chemical processing.
Available from early next year, the substrate is said to produce "impeccable quality" even in dense black areas of an image.
The second new product launched by Ilford is Omnijet NanoSolvent, a layer designed for the quick lamination of printed sheets while helping eliminate ink transfer when rolled up.
This NanoSolvent layer can be coated onto a variety of PVC-free substrates such as translucent film, pop-up displays, self-adhesive and banner printing materials.
Ilford America president Tim Maher said: "With these latest introductions, Ilford is continuing to push the technological boundaries of our industry by developing solutions for sign and display printing that offer increased productivity and, in many cases, a reduced environmental footprint."
Earlier this year, Ilford expanded into laminates and screen printing with the launch of two new products, Omnijet screen print separation film and BioMedia laminate, at Drupa.
