HH Global managed all aspects of print for the 48th edition of the
calendar. The company currently provides a print management service to Pirelli in numerous European markets including Italy, France, Germany and the UK, including marketing communications and operational print.
HH Global selected graphics company Grafiche Antiga to print 'The Cal' – as it is nicknamed – at its plant in the Treviso region, the first time the calendar has been printed in Pirelli’s homeland in Italy.
Grafiche Antiga is one of HH Global’s regular suppliers and printed the calendars using its 10-colour Roland R700 perfecting presses.
Pirelli was keen to keep all aspects of the calendar’s production within Italy this year, and the calendar was shot for the first time by an Italian photographer, Mario Sorrenti.
The 8 monochrome and seven colour images are presented in a canvas-lined portfolio, a method never used before.
HH Global chief sales and marketing officer Tony Massey said: "We were delighted with the outcome and that we were allowed to put our name on the calendar."
He believes that Pirelli’s decision to outsource print management of the calendar is based on positive experiences the motor company has had with HH Global in previous jobs.
Massey added: "It goes to show that print management is not all about cost reduction, but about positive attributes in terms of brand management.'
'The Cal', a gift sent only to a select few clients, has become a collector’s item since its first annual release in 1964.
