Horizon "revolutionises" POS offering with Agfa M-Press Leopard investment

Horizon Innovative Digital & Print Solutions has invested in an Agfa M-Press Leopard, a machine that has "revolutionised" its Point of Sale (POS) offering.

The Dublin-based business, which employs more than 50 staff across two sites, opted for the 1.6m x 2.6m machine after visiting Agfa in Belgium and subsequently signed for the printer at Fespa Digital 2011.

Installed at its Navan Road premises last month, the company said the Leopard machine has both shortened its time to market while improving print quality.

Lorna Duffy, marketing manager at Horizon, said the company ensured that when purchasing new machines it would not only benefit the company, but its clients too.

She said: "We were impressed with the quality of print, the photographic quality is superb.  The speed - we saw this would lead to a faster turnaround to the market.

"The machine is economical to run.  Like all digital printing machines, the: M- Press doesn’t require screens and uses about 25% of the ink laydown to achieve the same full colour gamut.

"The machine is also very user-friendly."

The M-Press Leopard incorporates the same inkjet shuttle technology as the Agfa Tiger, meaning it can match the Tiger for print quality and speed, and is intended for jobs that require more manual handling.

The press has a maximum print size of 1.6mx2.6m and can handle substrates up to 5cm thick. It also features instant curing technology so jobs are ready to be finished as soon as they've finished printing.

The flatbed machine complements existing firepower at Horizon, which was established in 1996 and specialises in Point of Sale and outdoor graphics. Customers include Heineken and Tesco Ireland.
