As well as exhibitors, there's a wealth of opportunity to learn from the best at this year's Northprint thanks to a range of educational seminars and debates.

PrintWeek Seminars

Over the first two days of the show, PrintWeek hosts a series of seminars tackling topical issues such as:

- Color Clinic – getting the red right by Alan Dresch, Mellow Colour;

- Expand your portfolio – how to integrate variable print with email, sms and microsites to deliver powerful campaigns by Tim Cox, ROI360

- Small change, big difference – business boosting ideas by Jo Francis, Associate Editor, PrintWeek;

- Marketing mix - how to create print business opportunities through smart marketing, by Gary Best, strategic relationship director and Richard Wayman, MD of CW Print, with Andy Cording, senior consultant, MC+Co; and

- Digital growth - how to add value to your business through innovative digital print services by transpromo expert Patrick Headley of GI Solutions.

BPIF Business Briefings

The BPIF along with Print Yorkshire, the regional networking organisation for the industry sponsored by Yorkshire Forward, will be running the following free briefings over the first two days of the exhibition.

11.00am Are you doing enough to survive?
There has never been a better time than now for a federation focused on protecting the people and industry it works within to launch a service to assist members to take financial control of their businesses.

BPIF Financial Alliance enables members to protect the financial health and wealth of their business by offering advice on areas such as finance, mergers and acquisitions, credit insurance, credit control and risk and tax issues.

11.30am Lean and Cost Keen
Vision in Print engineers will show how printers and packagers can and have, cut costs and waste to massively improve their profitability by using straightforward lean process improvement techniques. Learn how you can improve cash, productivity and profitability to gain sustainable, competitive edge in this difficult financial environment.

12.00pm PrintYorkshire – Working for printers in 2009
Print Yorkshire, the regional printers network backed by Yorkshire Forward and working in partnership with the BPIF will show the scope of Print Yorkshire, how printers can get involved and the broad range of solutions that can be accessed through partnerships with the BPIF and others.

2.00pm Calculating your Carbon Footprint
With the launch of the Carbon Trust’s new PAS 2050 (Publicly Available Specification), the BPIF will show how it’s new carbon calculator can provide printers with a standard methodology to give a Carbon footprint for printed products or for a factory site, and where the BPIF can assist with carbon offsetting.

Proskills Seminars

Proskills, is a not for profit and impartial organisation dedicated to improving the skill level and effectiveness of people working in the printing industry. They will be giving a daily presentation on how to get maximum return from investments in staff development and training. Since every print business is unique, Proskills will also be offering short 20 minute interviews with companies at the exhibition to better understand their training needs and offer impartial advice on how to organise and fund access training via the Train to Gain brokerage service.

Presentations will be given in the seminar theatre at 10.15am – 10.45am each morning.

Raising the Bar!

Recognizing that networking is a major aspect of Northprint, IIR has introduced the *Northprint Networking Bar* for the first time.

Exhibitors will be giving out free drink tokens to visitors every morning to use at the Bar between 12.30pm and 1.30pm every day.
