Goss International is developing software that allows mobile phone users to interact with print adverts.
The GossRSVP system recognises photographed barcodes or text messages sent in from mobile phones and associates them with an advertising campaign, returning the user the discount voucher or other promotional material.
The software is being tested with a number of New Hampshire newspapers and advertisers near to its headquarters, where the service is being hosted.
The company said the service can also be applied to billboard, packaging and electronic media as well.
