Entries by Nadine Counsell, Daniela Asael, Maximilian Waid, James Simonsen and Dave Parkes were shortlisted by the Fespa team and Gavin Drake, director of competition supporter GarmentPrinting.co.uk.
Visitors to Fespa 2015, which starts next Monday (18 May) in Cologne, Germany, will be able to vote for their favourite design during the five-day show and the entry that receives the most votes will win. The five shortlisted entries will be showcased on Stand E65, Hall 8.
The competition, which is now in its fifth year, invited anyone to submit a design for a printed t-shirt, which incorporated the Fespa Fabric logo and was inspired by the space exploration theme of this year’s Fespa exhibition.
The first place winner will receive 25 t-shirts digitally printed with their winning design by GarmentPrinting.co.uk, as well as €100 (£72) worth of Amazon vouchers. The second- and third-place entries will receive 10 and five t-shirts respectively printed with their own design.
"We’re really impressed with the calibre of entries for this year’s competition and it was great to see so many incorporate the space theme – it was hard to choose the Top 5. This year’s Fespa Fabric campaign is to ‘Launch into a Universe of Garment Decoration’, and the entries have certainly illustrated opportunities to do so," said Fespa marketing manager Lynda Sutton.
"Visitors to Fespa Fabric 2015 can be inspired by these t-shirt designs to send them on their garment decoration and textile printing journey."
Printers and other visitors to the show can follow the competition via Fespa's Twitter (with the hashtag #fespatshirt), Facebook, LinkedIn and Pinterest accounts.
The 2014 'Design a tee' winner was Mark Thompson of Staffordshire-based firm Printdesigns. Second and third place went to Noe Garcia and Federica Micalizzi respectively.
