Fespa Digital kicks off with 32% rise in first-day visitors

Fespa Digital 2009 got off to a flying start with a 32% increase in first-day visitors compared to last year.

A total of 4,394 visitors attended the event in Amsterdam yesterday, compared to 3,325 in Geneva in 2008.

"It's a great result in any circumstance, but especially so in the current economic climate," said Fespa managing director Frazer Chesterman.

The increase in visitors was a further sign of the buoyancy of the wide-format digital market, following an increase in floor space by 20% with more than 300 exhibitors.

Chesterman added: "If things continue at the rate of the first day, the expectation is that we'll have 12,000 visits compared to 10,000 in Geneva last year."

Fespa also announced the dates and venues for the next two digital shows.

Fespa Digital 2011 will be held in Hamburg, Germany from 24-26 May and the 2012 event will be held in Barcelona from 28 February to 1 March.
