German large-format printer Stiefel Digitalprint won the Platinum trophy for its Bild Rhinefall project, an innovative floating banner designed to navigate though white water at the Rhinefall basin during the 2008 UEFA European Championship.
The job, which reproduced Swiss artist Beat Toniolo's artwork on a special wide-mesh, was also the winner in the exterior category of the awards.
Other categories for the HP-sponsored awards were fine art, interior, packaging & manufactured goods, textile and vehicle.
Fine art was won by Swedish company Tobex, interior was won by VGC Colourlink of the UK, packaging & manufactured goods by Personal Media Solutions of The Netherlands, textile by the UK's Bonar Floors and vehicle by Swiss firm Rutschi.
The six category winners were selected by an independent jury in March from more than 200 entries submitted from across Europe, Middle East and Africa.
"We're delighted with the number of entries and the ongoing improvement in the calibre," said Fespa chief executive Nigel Steffens. "We're sure that the display of winning entries will be an inspiration for printers, stimulating them to respond to their clients' briefs in new and exciting ways."
Pictures of the winning entries are on show at Fespa Digital on stand C160, while the full details of the runners up and commended entries for all categories can be found on the awards website www.fespadpa.com.
