The magazine cited FedEx Office's Print & Go, which was introduced in January and Print Online, launched in 2007 and recently upgraded to enable customers to retrieve files from Google Docs, for their ability to provide quality printing and a great customer experience.
While the award is certainly welcomed, Michael Schween, Director of Product Marketing for FedEx Office, suggested the real benefit of Print & Go and Print Online has been to position the company as an innovator in both the online and mobile to print business.
"Businesses of all sizes, and more importantly individual users, are certainly relying more and more on mobile devices and the expectation of managing short-run print jobs from these devices is growing," Schween told PrintWeek. "Customers expect that short-run print jobs should be able to be accessed and printed quickly and easily from their mobile devices."
He also suggested the consolidation in the commercial printing industry-as well as the industry's shift toward short-run digital print-on-demand is enabling FedEx Office to better compete for jobs that were once sent to local printers.
"We are seeing the development of new print related opportunities around providing more efficient production and distribution of versioned print solutions," Schween added.
"While longer run print applications, such as user guides and manuals have shifted to alternative media, others, such as regionally versioned, retail collateral and signage show continued opportunity for FedEx Office. We are capitalizing on this market by leveraging our extensive network of wide and narrow format production equipment, shipping infrastructure and local distribution capabilities to help customers control costs, waste and turnaround with a wide range of commercial print solutions at both national and local levels."
