Hill's appointment follows the recruitment of senior developer Peter Grobler in July, who was hired to head-up the company's internal web and mobile development resource.
F1 managing director Ken Harrison told PrintWeek that the new hiring was testament to the demand for F1's web services.
"We've got lots of projects onboard and more in the pipeline," he said. "It's a challenge in terms of taking us out of our comfort zone of pre-press and print but it's really taking off."
F1 creative director Peter Gatward added: "We're currently on plan and are very fortunate to have gained business to support our organic growth. We're all very excited about F1's future."
According to Gatward, "dovetailing design projects with robust engineering" is one of the most difficult aspects of implementing any web project and can lead to wasted investment if potential pitfalls are not understood and identified early.
He highlighted common mistakes such as design concepts being misinterpreted or the quality being compromised due to platform restrictions. "Having the right teams in place with free flowing interactions between them is essential [to avoid this]," added Gatward.
Hill, who will report to Grobler on web and mobile development and Gatward on creative and design aspects, brings a wealth of knowledge in HTML5 scripting languages, bolstering F1's PHP, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, MySQL and Java skills base.
