Easibind International invests in HP Indigo 5600

Easibind International has bolstered its digital print capabilities after investing in an HP Indigo 5600 digital press.

The Heanor, Derbyshire-based business has installed the digital machine to enable it to print a variety of stationery items such as binders, wallets and folders.

Easibind has specified the new digital machine with the Indigo thick substrate kit as well as white ink functionality.

Easibind International chief executive Harry Skidmore said the key advantage of the Indigo 5600 was its ability to print on a wide variety of substrates.

He said: "We print a lot of subsurface on the transparent ranges, using white ink to maintain the high-definition CMYK images through the face. This provides a scratch-proof top surface, which is useful when using long-life polymers."

"We also use other materials for trademark and specialist applications. These include polycarbonates, polyesters and thermoplastics which are used for POS and display, security and recognition, and industrial thermoforming markets."

The company's new Indigo 5600 uses ElectroInks and can print at speeds up to 68ppm. It complements the firms existing Indigo s2000 digital press.

Skidmore added: "The advantage of HP ElectroInks is that they are transparent, just like litho inks, so we can produce litho quality using the white ink as a base laid on solid-coloured substrates."
