The company secured the sale of a Kongsberg iXE-10 digital die-cutting line to UK-based commercial printer Sense Creative for €150,000.
"After investing €450,000 in digital print over the past two years, we had to look at our finishing capability," said Tim Thompson, Sense Creative’s owner.
"This machine enables us to provide customers with a diverse mix of products. We could literally think up an idea on a Friday and have it live on the site on a Monday thanks to this machine."
He added that the machine’s automation would mean greater productivity and lower staffing requirements. Thompson said he came to drupa specifically to see the capability of the new automated features and was immediately convinced of its potential.
"We had seen a video of the automation, but as soon as we saw it in the flesh we knew it was what we needed," he said.
Duplo has also highlighted three enhancements to its DC-745 slitter-cutter-creaser. The machine can now come with an embossing unit, an integrated folding line and a dynamic perforator.
"Embossing is a really exciting development for the machine as it opens up new markets for our customers," explained Andy Pike, Duplo UK marketing manager.
