Domino's N600 is a 50m per minute, 330mm-wide machine, with the option of an additional ink channel to run white for clear stocks.
"The majority of digital label presses today run at 30m per minute, but our research shows that printers want 50m per minute to keep up with the speed of their finishing lines," according to Philip Easton, Domino digital printing solutions director.
He added that the digital label market had grown by around 300% in the past five years, with similar growth expected over the next five as label printers seek a solution for lower volumes and brand managers take advantage of personalisation to run promos.
The Kyocera printheads in the N600 machine offer a 600dpi resolution and four grey levels, which Easton said is equivalent to 1,200dpi. A 50% speed boost to 75m per minute is also possible by limiting the grey levels to three.
Domino is also set to launch the K600 at Ipex – a monochrome overprinting system capable of printing single path in widths up to 782mm-wide for both web and sheetfed systems. Applications include gamecards and security products.
"The K600 joins the K series, which includes the K100, K150 and K200," Easton said. "We've seen a demand from the market for multiple-head systems, and it made sense to have a single system that covered a whole sheet.
"What makes the K600 stand out is that it's compact and can be integrated into existing kit and upgrade overprinting to 600dpi.
"Standard speed is 75m per minute at 600dpi and three grey levels, a faster dual-head configuration offers 150m per minute at the same resolution or twice the speed again at 300m per minute at 600x300dpi."
Ipex 2010 is due to be held on 18-25 May, 2010, at the Birmingham NEC.
