The packaging company, which is based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, required the perfector press in a 2- over 4- configuration in order to replace an ageing model at the firm's label production facility.
According to Colin Hunt, production director at Denny Bros, the company's older Speedmaster SM74 has limited levels of automation but believed the used press market offered better value for the business.
He said: "Our needs, however, were very specific: a six-colour Heidelberg machine with perfector, in 2- over 4- configuration: it wasn’t necessarily a huge surprise to find that the marketplace didn’t have anything to offer us.
"DPM, however, did find one for us, though it was located in South Korea – prohibiting our usual pre-purchase visit to see the machine in action, and do our own assessment on the product."
However, the company settled for a full service engineer’s report on the press as well as reversing a conversion which had previously taken place in order to run UV inks.
"Once the machine had been imported we needed DPM to provide a full hand-cleaning service of the machine. Our label products are destined for the food and pharmaceutical markets: machine cleanliness is critical to our business," he added.
Denny Bros is using the latest additionto its press hall to produce the leaflet pages of its Fix-a-Form products, that end up in the both the food and pharmaceutical markets.
