Curtis Packaging generates $40m in annual revenue by providing packaging and folding carton solutions for high-end/luxury brands such as Estee' Lauder, Elizabeth Arden, Titleist and Jack Daniels.
The company, which was founded in 1845, does have KBA presses at its facility, but was apparently so impressed with the Scodix digital press, it purchased the equipment right off the Graph Expo show floor and had it shipped directly to Connecticut.
Curtis executives did not return calls from PrintWeek, but in a press release company COO John Giusto said: "People come back to us for our creativity and our ability to execute extremely difficult packaging - we do the kind of work that many other people are afraid to do or aren't capable of doing. Scodix fits right in with what Curtis is all about - it's a press that is unique and allows us to be creative."
The Scodix S series press features 99 Gloss Units, up to 250 microns in polymer height, variable density capabilities from 1 to 100%, unlimited colors and can handle sheet sizes up to 20x29 inches.
