The label printer is currently based in Willenhall, but will relocate to Wednesfield, Wolverhampton, to new premises twice the size of its existing 930sqm site. The move was announced last week at Packaging Innovations in Birmingham and is expected to be completed in the summer, following works on the new site.
CS Labels said the new site will enable the company to bolster its production capabilities as well as provide increased office and visitor space.
Managing director Simon Smith said: “We have now picked up the keys and hope that our work on the premises will be complete by April. This is our single biggest investment, and it is major when you consider that we are a small family company. "
"I believe the new premises will set us up well for the next 10 years. This is a logical progression for our company.”
CS Labels kicked off its investment for the year with the installation of its fourth CX3 label press in January, enabling it to increase capacity and productivity. The firm also signed up to beta test the CX500 at LabelExpo in October last year and is expecting to take delivery in Q2 as its relocation enters the final stages.
Smith said: “An additional CX3 will allow us to improve productivity by having a single material running on each press. We can expand into flexible packaging as well as improving our capacity and productivity.
“While we performed an extensive review on presses from HP and Screen, we are very close to Xeikon and so are happy to take on a new CX3 as well as testing the CX500.”
CS Label’s new premises, on the new Steel Park trading estate, will be its first purpose-designed base, and will include a boardroom and offices plus dining, kitchen and restroom space and a shower room.
The £5m-turnover firm has also installed a new productivity pack for its Grafisk Maskinfabrik DC330 converting line, allowing it to provide UV varnish, die-cutting, slit and rewind on one platform.
CS Labels employs 50 staff and provides digitally printed self-adhesive labels and digital flexible packaging in the form of stand-up pouches and continuous film.
