In February this year the government announced that council newspapers would be restricted to no more than four issues a year.
However, next month Greenwich Council's scrutiny committee will discuss the council's decision to continue to publish Greenwich Time weekly, flying in the face of the government's decision.
The council will not comment on the case until it has been heard, however local government minister Grant Shapps was not happy with the decision.
He told PrintWeek sister title PRWeek: "These papers exist to promote personal political agendas and not the interests of the public and I urge local residents to report these publications to the district auditor."
