Sean Toal, commercial director for The Co-operative Food, said: "In the current economic climate, it was necessary for our point-of-sale and in-store communications to shout a stronger value message.
The 'Big Deals' material was developed following the integration of The Co-operative Group and Somerfield estates, using a 'best of the best' approach."
West Yorkshire-based Screenprint Productions and APS Group helped produce 3m aisle-stopper items and 4m right-angled shelf talkers.
Screenprint Productions used more than 100 miles of Velcro for the POS items which it produced and collated in its 4645sqm warehouse into pallet boxes and parcels that had to arrive at each store on the fitting day.
Martyn Hicks, director of Screenprint Productions, said "We as a company love challenges, and co-ordinating part of the new POS roll-out across The Co-operative estate was definitely that.
"With lots of forward planning and great organisation, the project ran very smoothly."
