Unlike previous Centurfax products, such as the Easydot, which put everything into a single portable unit, the Microdot uses a standard PC for most detailed viewing tasks, making the device itself more affordable.
The Microdot connects to a PC via a USB connection for instant analysis of percentage dot values, screen ruling and screen angles. The device and software are suitable for measuring dots on film, plate or printed paper.
According to Centurfax, the Microdot can read dots of less than 10micron, meaning the tool is compatible with all types of screening, including FM, hybrid and AM.
Hardware and software development for the £495 quality control product came from Centurfax, while Ripware provided sales and marketing expertise and distribution services.
