The ink, which is named IJC257 and offers strong adhesion to a wide range of indoor and outdoor rigid and flexible media, will be demonstrated on an Océ Arizona 480GT UV flatbed printer on the firm’s stand.
“The new IJC257 ink is a ‘best of both worlds’ product - it combines the high adhesion characteristics of our specialist industrial ink with the attractive satin-matt finish and superior colour gamut of our major sign and display ink product,” said Canon Europe Wide Format Printing Group European marketing manager Mathew Faulkner.
“It really is a step up as an all-purpose ink for sign and display applications, giving both that excellent adhesion, a large colour gamut and the attractive surface characteristics. The pricing of the new ink is in line with current ink pricing and it will be commercially available immediately.”
Also on Canon’s stand will be the Océ Arizona 6170XTS, a seven-colour, high-volume flatbed printer which is designed for sign and display firms that produce over 30,000sqm of printed rigid media per year.
The machine features a 2.5x3.05m vacuum table and offers print speeds up to 155sqm/hr.
Canon will also show the Océ ColorWave 900, a 1,067mm roll-based printer with raw speeds of up to 1,000sqm/hr which is suitable for display graphics including posters, exhibition and trade show materials, counter and floor displays and technical drawings and maps.
Furthermore, the Océ ColorWave 700, which was announced earlier this year, will also make its European debut at Fespa. The machine, which offers instant-dry and water-resistant prints on roll-based media, supports media up to 0.8mm thick, which makes it suitable for a large range of graphics applications including canvas, wallpaper and banner printing.
The imagePrograf iPF9400, which incorporates Canon’s Lucia Ex 12-colour pigment ink system, will also be on the stand.
Canon’s stand, which will be situated in Hall 9, Stand Y10, will be divided into three themed zones: 'Retail', 'Packaging and promotion' and 'Design to manufacture'.
Each zone will look at the key trends and wide-format application possibilities in each of the areas.
Visitors will also see a large range of applications being produced live on-stand, each supporting one of the three themes, as well as being able to browse through two ‘Look Book’ guides, which explore the applications possible with the Arizona and ColorWave ranges.
Faulkner said: “This year we are placing a big focus not only on applications, but also on the opportunities for our customers as a result of them, in a broad range of interesting and lucrative markets. With the right technologies and solutions and the right expertise and back-up from Canon, we can show our customers just what is possible and how their business could benefit.
“Take the example of just one of our themes for this year - retail. Across this area we will show how print can add value at every stage of a retailer’s journey to delivering a valuable customer experience. From the construction and decoration of a store in the first place, right through to the seasonal signage, ad hoc promotional advertising and POS displays.
“Utilising all of our technologies from UV and water-based inkjet to CrystalPoint and Memjet, we can show how Canon’s broad portfolio of wide-format solutions can cater to the demands of fast moving and dynamic sectors such as this, including how print can add value to key trends such as omnichannel.
“Our approach this year is really to create something inspiring from a visit to the Canon stand, so that no matter where our customers’ business is today, we can provoke thoughts and demonstrate interesting, even compelling opportunities.”
Fespa 2015 will take place in Cologne, Germany from 18-22 May.
