BPIF publishes shortlist for new-look Excellence Awards

The BPIF has announced the shortlist for its new-look BPIF Excellence Awards 2011, which will take place at the Caf de Paris in London on 15 June.

Returning after a one-year absence, the slimmed-down Excellence Awards now feature 14 catgories - aligned with the organisation's products and services - reduced from 19 at the last event.

The new format has attracted a record number of entries, with 82 companies applying across the awards' nine business categories - leading to 29 shortlisted companies, as well as five individuals being shortlisted in the Apprentice category.

These include Human Resources, Health and Safety, Environment, Innovation, Marketing, Lean Manufacturing, Customer Service, Training and Development, Apprentice, and Company of the Year.

There are two awards available for each of the Human Resources, Environment and Company of the Year categories, which are split between companies with annual turnover of under and over £5m.

Among the shortlisted print businesses for the Company of the Year (over £5m turnover) is Kettering-based Eclipse Colour Print, which has also been shortlisted in the Lean Manufacturing category.

Simon Moore, managing director of Eclipse, said: "We are really delighted to have been shortlisted in two categories in the prestigious BPIF Excellence Awards this year.

"We are eagerly awaiting the judges verdict in both the Lean Manufacturing and Company of the Year (over £5m turnover) awards and given our outstanding performance in both we are hoping for a good result."

The guest host for this year's event will be stand-up comedian and TV personality Mark Steel, who has appeared on Have I Got News for You, QI and Room 101, as well as hosting his own radio series The Mark Steel Solution.
