The aMAZEme project, which was inspired by the writer and educator JL Borges, has been created by Brazilian artists Marcos Saboya and Gualter Pupo in collaboration with production company Hungry Man.
The maze, which has been created in the shape of Borges fingerprint, covers over 500sqm, with sections standing up to 2.5m high.
Visitors can attempt to navigate the maze, which is constructed from 250,000 remaindered, second-hand and new books, of which 150,000 have been loaned by Oxfam. The remaining 100,000 books were gifted by publishing houses from around the UK.
Literary quotes are projected directly onto the labyrinth walls and the accompanying audio aims to immerse the audience in a world of literature.
The aMAZEme installation will run until the 25 August and is part of the London 2012 festival, which aims to bring leading artists across the world together with the best from the UK.
