The five independent BBD&PA judges spent two days perusing the 575 entries, whittling them down to a shortlist of 82 books.
Printers featured in the shortlist include Baddeley Brothers, DG3, Generation Press, Pressision and Pureprint Group, with Geoff Neal Group getting a nod in the Best British Book category.
The awards are jointly organised by the BPIF, Oxford Brookes University and The Publishers Association.
“We’re delighted with the enthusiasm we’ve seen for the British Book Design & Production Awards this year,” said BPIF chief executive Charles Jarrold.
“Judges specifically commented on the categories for Limited Edition/Fine Binding and Children’s Trade, where the shortlist caused much debate due to the high calibre of entrants.
“The student category was also highlighted with judges stating that entries were absolutely superb. I’d advise anyone who wants to network with the best in the print, design and publishing industries to get in quick and book their ticket.”

The winners will be unveiled at a gala dinner at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel in Knightsbridge, London on 10 November.
