BMS reveals Ipex line-up

Used finishing equipment specialist Bindery Machinery Services will display a raft of kit on its 18x11m stand at Ipex this month, alongside a video demonstration area.

The Edinburgh-based business will show Muller Martini kit including an Acoro A5, a Pantera perfect binder and Amigo and a Primera C130 high-speed saddlestitcher alongside four Meler PUR gluing systems and a Bograma punching machine.

“We’ve done a lot of research into who is coming and we are expecting a big South American contingent, as well as customers from Africa and the Middle East so we decided to stick our necks out and really put a good display on the stand,” said BMS managing director Jim Brown. "That is important for us because people want to touch and see."

“Ipex is usually better for us than Drupa, we never miss it,” he added.

Brown said that London, where this year's event is being held, was the perfect location for the company as it could fly prospective buyers up to BMS’s 2,790sqm site in Scotland to give them the opportunity to see other equipment.

“All we need is one good sale and the show is made for us. So far the signs are positive and our customers are making the right noises, so I’m feeling confident.”

Brown said he felt it was particularly important this time to put on a good display for customers because the show was so much smaller than previously.

“I think the big manufacturers that pulled out have been a wee bit shortsighted. I wouldn’t be too impressed if I’d bought a brand new piece of kit and there was no representation there from the manufacturer. I think at least they could have small meet-and-greet stands to welcome their customers.

"But although the size is disappointing this time I think we’ll get the same amount of overseas visitors. My understanding from the feelers we have put out is that a lot of them simply don’t know that some of the big-name manufacturers aren’t going," Brown added.
