The Leyton, London-based printer opted for the new model, which complements a B2 and B3 Heidelberg pressroom, to boost productivity following a "strong" 2011.
According to David Amos, managing director at Barclay’s Print, its latest investment will enable the company to cater for the firm's growing customer base.
"We have had a very strong year and have some interesting prospects which made this press purchase the right course for us," he added.
The litho press investment comes on the back of the company's investment in a Heidelberg-supplied Ricoh Pro C 901 Graphic Arts Edition digital press last year.
Amos said the ability to print both litho and digital enables the business to offer "complementary" services across the two technologies.
"We have long-term clients who demand great quality and great service and this investment will enable us to increase our productivity, improve colour management and help us to build on existing strong relationships, as well as develop new clients," he added.
In addition to the new XL machine and Ricoh digital press, the family-run business also operates a five-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 74-5, as well as two-colour and single colour presses.
Amos added: "The Speedmaster XL 75’s Press Center is much more user friendly than the CPC control system on the CD 74.
"We are also very impressed by the very much quicker make-readies demonstrated on the XL 75, with three to four minute switches from stock to stock."
