The Southampton-based company opted for Danwood-supplied machine to expand its service offering that includes sign and display graphics and vehicle wrapping.
ASAP UK surveyed a range of digital production machines from companies such as Xerox before settling on the Bizhub C6000, which was launched this time last year.
According to Jason Terry managing director at ASAP UK, the decision to move into digital short-run production stemmed from the growing demand from its display and exhibition clients.
He said: "We were constantly being asked to supply fast turnaround short runs of colour promotional materials and business cards that simply weren’t cost effective for us to produce on press, therefore we took the decision to move into digital production."
The company's new addition complements the recent investment in four new HP wide-format machines and will allow the 14-year old company to cater for a client base that includes blue chip corporate accounts, design agencies and high street retailers.
"We tend to look favourably on those suppliers who can keep our machines running with minimal down time, and this was very much at the front of our minds when we started the search for the right partner to supply our digital press," said Terry.
The C6000 can print at a resolution up to 1,200dpi and handle monthly volumes of around 330,000 pages. A range of online finishing options are also available, including large capacity stacker, hole punching, folding, stapling, saddle stitching and perfect binding.
