Arjowiggins Graphic reports increase in demand for recycled papers

Arjowiggins Graphic has reported a 140% increase in demand for its recycled paper grades since the division was established at the start of 2009.

It found that for the first year of business, between January 2009 to December 2009, the production of recycled papers resulted in a 256m kg reduction in waste sent to landfill.

Arjowiggins Graphic has also claimed a reduction of some 5.6bn litres of water consumption and 1.1bn kwh of energy use versus non-recycled paper.

David Cook, managing director of Arjowiggins Graphic, said that, by staying at the forefront of technical developments, the company has been able to ensure that it is an industry leader in the provision of environmental paper.

He said: "Everything from the mills that we work with, to the lead times for new product development, plays a part in that success, and it is vital that we do not rest our laurels."

Arjowiggins Graphic was launched in January 2009 and it brought together Arjowiggins' coated and uncoated recycled paper divisions to create a subdivision that focused on environmental papers, as part of a new organisational structure announced by French parent Sequana.
