According to Agfa, the plate features a higher sensitivity, meaning it can be imaged up to 20% faster, and supports greater variations in exposure conditions.
The plate can hold a resolution of 1-99% at 200lpi, supports Sublima XM screening, and is also capable of holding a 20-micron FM screen.
In addition, the plate features an enhanced dual-layer coating, including a chemical-resistant second layer, and improved mechanical resistance that Agfa said would enable longer run lengths under aggressive press conditions including UV inks, without the need for baking.
"Agfa's advanced no-bake thermal plate technology typically serves the high-demanding printing environments," said Dave Carey, senior product marketing manager, prepress at Agfa, North America.
"Energy Elite Pro is fast in processing, offers high image quality on long runs and is a robust plate hence best suited for demanding commercial applications without the need for baking."
Increased bath life - up to 75,000sq ft - and lower replenishment rates of 50ml/sqm would help customers to reduce chemical waste and improve process sustainability, the firm said.
Energy Elite Pro is designed for use with the widest variety of platesetters and thermal processors including Agfa Graphics' recently introduced high-speed Avalon N8-80XT.
