Q&A: Malcolm Baker, senior sales manager, Precision Colour Printing

Malcolm Baker, senior sales manager at Precision Colour Printing, is married with three children. A keen motorsports and classic cars fan, he likes the sound of a big motor and a Big Bang. He's also been known to pull out all the stops to get a soggy women's glossy off his case and on press.


Why did you get into printing?
I trained as a scientific illustrator and applied for a job in the repro department at Hunterprint

What is your dream bit of kit?
Triumph Stag V8 engine

Who or what do you hate the most?
Asset strippers and phoenix companies – why does UK business law allow this?

What is the strangest job you’ve ever done?
I cleaned a courier case full of film that had been thrown out of a train into a marsh – Women’s Own magazine, if I recall. It took two days, but it still went to press

Personalised magazine printer

Most embarrassing moment?
I was best man at a wedding and raised a toast to a recently deceased aunt. She turned out to be alive and well – and in attendance at the wedding

Where would you like to be right now?
Fishing in the Mediterranean

Where would you go if you could time travel?
I would love to see the Big Bang

What was the best business deal that you’ve pulled off?
Wembley Stadium programmes. I won the deal in my first month in sales
