Richard & Judy who?

A quick update on the recommended reads posting from a week or so ago.

Readers immediately opened up suggestions to include the welcome escape provided by works of fiction.

PrintWeek community member Marcus Doo stuck with the original business brief and suggests The Goal by Eliyahu M. Goldratt and Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnson.

Paul Foster at Ripware gets brownie points for his response that began: "What am I reading? PrintWeek, of course, what else!" He also benefits from having a wife who's a librarian, guaranteeing a rich reading list. Paul is currently half-way through The Return by Victoria Hislop. This is a book based on the Spanish Civil War that Paul describes as "enthralling". He also recommends the Robyn Young trilogy about the Templars and the Crusades.

That man Andrew Gunman, part of the inspiration for the original post, has moved on from Atlas Shrugged to Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth.

Journalist and raconteur Des King reckons A Secret Alchemy by Emma Darwin is worth a read "by anyone who can remember when this was a craft-based activity, but given the historical/family relationship themes, probably of more appeal to Ms rather than Mr Printer."

The last suggestion for the time being comes from Lateral Group's Nick Dixon who recommends the cheerily titled The Rotten State of Britain by Eamonn Butler, but cautions "don't read this if you're of a nervous disposition".
