The direct mail and paperwrapping specialist is based in Hucknall, near Nottingham.
The NOI was filed against The Mailshop Mailing Ltd yesterday by Mark David Hodgett and Nathan Jones of FRP Advisory.
At the time of writing Printweek was unable to reach managing director John Ellis for comment.
He helmed a buy-in-management-buyout in the summer of 2021, when the business was buoyant with sales of £13m and employed 80 staff.
However, an industry source told Printweek that the firm's trade insurance had been cut last year after The Mailshop posted losses.
Abbreviated accounts for the year to 31 July 2022 showed that shareholders’ funds reduced from £554,690 to £65,586.
Trade creditors were owed £1.79m at that time.
At the end of last month the business notified Companies House that it had shortened its previous accounting period by one day, from 31 July 2023 to 30 July.
The news will be a further blow to the printing industry in the East Midlands, after Nottingham Trade Finishers was shuttered last month.
