The commercial printer set up a new central Edinburgh production site last year as it made a major £1.6m investment in packaging production.

It also has a facility in Musselburgh housing a litho setup.

A local source said that staff had not been paid at the end of last month.

The firm’s phone number rings out unanswered.

Printweek has confirmed that Glasgow-based J Thomson Colour Printers has taken on Ivanhoe’s work-in-progress, but the rest of the picture is currently unclear.

A local industry source commented: “Certainly, a lot of people in the trade in Scotland are asking questions. There are all sorts of rumours flying about.”

Printweek has been unable to reach Ivanhoe Caledonian founder director Keith Cockburn for comment at the time of writing.

Its abbreviated accounts for the 14 months to 31 May 2021 state that Ivanhoe Caledonian had 28 employees.

Operations director and co-owner Iain Little ceased to be a director of the business on 10 June.

The firm’s plant list includes B1 and B2 Komori Lithrone litho presses, a Xerox Versant digital press, and a wide variety of post-press equipment.

Ivanhoe Caledonian was formed in 2017 by the merger of Ivanhoe Printing Company and Caledonian Colour Printers. It has a history stretching back 80 years.
