Former managing director Andrew Pang, who joined the press manufacturer as director of consumables operations from customer Butler & Tanner in 2007, is leaving the business. Pang became MD in the summer of 2013.
Scully has worked at Koenig & Bauer for 19 years, and previously worked in pre-media with roles at Creo, Scitex and DuPont.
The new setup brings the UK into line with the type of structure that’s in place at K&B’s other regional sales and service operations.
Koenig & Bauer board member and chief delivery officer Ralf Sammeck thanked Pang for his “many years of outstanding service”.
“For almost a decade he has safely guided Koenig & Bauer UK through both local and global changes and challenges and leaves the company well-positioned for the future,” he said.
"We feel that now is the right time to complete the process of merging responsibility for sales and operations in line with other regional subsidiaries where it has proved successful and very effective.”
Scully told Printweek: “From our point-of-view it’s an evolution if you look at the way the business has changed.
“Lots of projects are so big, and so integral to our customers’ business, to have a view of the whole scenario is so important. During a recent print test in Germany, I spent the whole time in a meeting room with the customer’s head of sales talking about what the press could do for their business. From concept to investment to support – it’s changing.”
The change is effective immediately.
Pang was on holiday at the time of writing, his future plans are unknown.
Scully’s senior team comprises finance director Stephanie Thomson and service director Peter Banks.
The business, which employs around 45 in the UK and had sales of £9.63m in 2021, recently expanded its UK service and project management team ahead of a busy period of complex press installations. The overall Koenig & Bauer group expects to file revenues of €1.186bn (£1.04bn) for 2022.
Separately, corrugated wing Koenig & Bauer Celmacch has just launched a new option for double-sided printing in one pass, for increased efficiency, cost reduction and the option to add details such as instructions, or to create a “wow factor” when unboxing.
Scully added: “We have so many different technologies at Koenig & Bauer and I’m looking at where the opportunities are. It’s a busy proposition going forward.”
