The Duke of Edinburgh has awarded medals to two printers in a ceremony that has never before singled out leaders from the industry.
Prince Philip, patron of the City & Guilds of London, awarded the special certificate gongs for services to printing.
The first medal winner, Ray Tindle, is managing director of The Chameleon Press in Wandsworth. He sits on the BPIF government & industry committee and is also a member of the Institute of Marketing.
The other winner was Gary Iceton, former chairman of Clays.
Much is often said of the bad quality of managers, said Tindle, but the industry is made up of small
companies, often run by entrepreneurs who havent been trained in management, but never shy away from the work ethic.
Prince Philip makes a City & Guilds of London award once a year.
