Purchased direct from Ricoh, the machine was installed this week at the Bradford-based company’s premises, which spans two adjacent units with a total of 1,115sqm space.
Business development manager Farid Malik told Printweek: “For a while, we have been looking to upgrade our digital print offering, and this looks like the ideal machine for us. The long sheet option is especially attractive, particularly while printing 6pp A4. We will also make use for the white toner and the clear toner that this machine offers.”
The 95ppm Ricoh is additional to the company’s portfolio and will run alongside an existing Xerox Versant 80. While the business also considered a number of alternatives, it decided that the Ricoh device was the best fit for its requirements.
The company also runs a B1 Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106 five-colour with coater, which was installed in 2018, and a raft of finishing equipment including Muller Martini and Horizon stitching lines, MBO, Stahl, and Longford folding machines, two fully integrated Polar guillotines, and a Heidelberg Cylinder with foiling.
The Ricoh printer was part of a wider £250,000 investment programme, with new finishing kit set to be installed in the coming weeks.
While Print Plus UK has traditionally predominantly served the hospitality industry, Malik said over the past few years it has shifted towards more value-added work including high-end brochures, hotel maps, packaging, and more greetings cards.
