The new site, covering more than 1,850sqm, includes 370sqm of warehouse space dedicated to bulk stacked products.
Mike Banks, Premier’s operations director for its Midlands and North business, said: “The opening of our new Glasgow site is a positive move for the company. This bigger, better and more accessible facility can hold more stock, enabling us to improve our capabilities with a fast, flexible and efficient service to our customers.”
The new, more modern site, has improved security compared to the old Uddingston location, and a larger dedicated yard. Premier has 11 staff at the site, five of whom make up the dedicated logistics team.
The new site is based near Junction 7A of Scotland’s M8 motorway, with access to the M74 and A725.
Premier said the proximity to transport infrastructure would help the firm improve its service levels, with the Glasgow site shipping stock to customers with its own fleet of four rigid body trucks and ‘flyer’ van.
Banks added: “The new location is a secure, pleasant and more modern environment to work in, and it’s easily accessible to the road network.”
Premier, which has a product range of more than 5,500 items, has made several acquisitions in the past twelve months, including Dublin-based paper merchant GPMI, specialist packaging supplier WBC, and lamination film firm Zulu Packaging.
