Purchased direct from the Bowe Group, the machine was installed at the company’s purpose-built Plymouth headquarters in November.
The Fusion Lite is the third series Fusion model and according to Bowe “offers premium inserting technology, the ideal combination of performance and an attractive price with speeds of up to 16,000 envelopes per hour”.
Like the other two models in the Fusion range, the device employs unique flow-principle inserting technology and can handle a range of formats from B6+ to B4.
Pepper Communications operations director Jake Whitford said: “The Fusion Lite will provide Pepper Communications with the ability to access a greater volume and variety of work and help with the migration of polywrap work to enveloping.
“This new mailing investment is built immensely well, designed with speed, integrity and quality in mind, and the run ability of jobs and reporting is superb.
“With Fusion Lite working at a greater speed, we have already started benefitting from the efficiencies gained. Some jobs that would have previously taken us two shifts to complete have been completed in one shift and we haven’t even fully pushed it yet.”
Pepper Communications, which employs more than 50 staff, became a member of print and paper advocacy group Two Sides last year and laid out details of its Planet Positive Initiative.
In 2019 the business invested £1.6m in litho and digital, including Heidelberg and Xerox machinery, to enhance its press efficiency and automation, while in early 2020 it installed a Baumann PSW3 pile turner.
