The Leicester-headquartered group said that the Data Security Centre would allow the group to up its security rating “reinforcing its commitments to regulatory compliance, safety, security and trust” in a year when cyber attacks and data breaches have regularly hit the headlines.
The multi-channel comms specialist teamed with Secure IT Environments on the build. The Biggleswade-based data centre specialist has worked with numerous NHS trusts on similar project, as well as commercial clients.
Opus Trust chief operating officer Hayden Savage said that data security and regulatory compliance was “fundamental” to the group’s offering.
“As we manage the business-critical communications for an increasing number of customers, the investment in our new Data Security Centre is further commitment to the robustness of the processes and procedures we have in place,” he said.
“We would like to thank Secure IT Environments for working with us on this project and delivering during a challenging time, as well as in a short turnaround. We are very pleased with the results.”
The new modular data centre was installed and up and running in 15 weeks. It includes 19in cabinets, a new UPS located in a separate secure compound, LED and emergency lighting, and row-based cooling.
It also has “a robust dual power supply infrastructure” and other features including an environmental management system.
Secure IT Environments projects director Chris Wellfair described it as “one of our most challenging projects ever”, due to the Covid-19 pandemic causing disruption “for everyone and every business”.
“Our dedicated project and installation team always work very closely with our clients and this has been more important than ever as we all worked to navigate and design new ways of working,” he said. “The success of this project has proven the value of all the time invested to get processes right, and some of these are being taken forward into all our new projects.”
The project is the culmination of a £1.5m spend this year. Last month Opus also unveiled a £500,000 investment on intelligent digital mailroom automation.
Savage said it would “improve inbound scanning and indexing processes for returns handling, bulk scanning and invoice processing”.
It is almost a year since Opus Trust acquired print and mailing business Critiqom. It followed that over the summer this year with the takeover of customer communications management specialist DocCentrics.
Opus Trust CEO Tony Strong said the firm was aiming to hit sales around the £100m mark following the deals.
