Newbould was employed as a consultant to oversee the installation of the firm’s MAN Lithoman IV 72pp-80pp press within inline finishing, which has been sourced from Stibo Complete in Denmark.
Boyes told Printweek that her success in business had been based on “working as a team, with a flat structure”.
“We’ve parted company with Mike and decided not to continue the relationship. We had different visions.”
She said group managing director Martins Komisars, who is usually based at her YM Media business on the continent, had stepped in together with his works director to oversee the arrival of the press and associated factory refurbishment.
JanusTech is managing the relocation and installation and parts of the post-press system for the press began arriving at the 5,580sqm Elvington site last week.
Russell Smith has also recently joined York Media as works manager. He has a long industry career in factory management, with roles at Walstead Peterborough and YM Chantry, and before that spent more than 22 years at Polestar.
“Russell’s doing a really great job,” Boyes said.
She said the firm planned to have an official launch event over the summer: “This blip will be forgotten by the time we get to July.”
The multimillion-pound investment is being funded from YM Media’s own resources.
