The reorganisation project for the mill, which is based in Le Lardin St Lazare, France and produces Coated Woodfree Paper (CWF), was announced by the Spain-headquartered papermaking group today (20 June).
In a statement, the company said: “Lecta foresees to focus Condat mill completely on the production of specialty papers, glassine and C1S, on PM8, in which it has invested through a conversion in 2021.
“Additionally, Lecta is currently investing in an RDF boiler to provide a very cost competitive energy solution for PM8 and reduce the mill’s carbon footprint through a reduction of CO2 emissions, in line with Lecta’s sustainability strategy and goals. The RDF boiler will be operational by mid-2024.”
Lecta said it was committed to minimising the social consequences of the Condat reorganisation project “and will commence in the next days information/consultation meetings with its employee representatives”.
In April, Lecta reported bumper increases in revenue and EBITDA for 2022 and turned a pre-tax loss last year into a pre-tax profit.
