Gelato and Landa Digital Printing have unveiled a new collaboration between both parties, while ESP Colour has separately partnered with Gelato to Implement GelatoConnect across all modules.

The Landa partnership, revealed last week during Drupa at Messe Düsseldorf, is said to leverage Landa’s Nanographic print technology and customer network, and Gelato’s recently-launched global software platform – GelatoConnect – for the delivery of on-demand, short-to-medium run, digitally printed jobs.

Gil Oron, CEO at Landa Digital Printing, said: “We are delighted to partner with Gelato who have an excellent global business model with a product and machine agnostic software, GelatoConnect, that will drive volume and increase profitability in our customers’ production facilities, thereby enabling us to broaden the use of Nanography across the globe.

“With more than 56 presses in the market within print businesses both large and small, Nanography is now a mature, robust, and futureproofing technology, driving production efficiency with high quality output thereby supporting creators around the world – our customers.”

The companies said the key benefits of the collaboration included speed of production and high quality for Gelato’s creators and global e-commerce customers; global reach through a worldwide fulfilment network; a streamlined customer experience; and a focus on sustainability through Landa’s water-based inks and commitment to resource efficiency that Gelato said resonates with its own sustainable approach to production.

The two companies said they were also “united in their drive to transform the print landscape” and that this strategic partnership “delivers exceptional results for print buyers”: prioritising quality, convenience, and a commitment to responsible production.

Henrik Müller-Hansen, CEO and founder of Gelato, commented: “Landa presses are redefining the print and packaging landscape. Together, with Gelato, we can serve our print customers by empowering them with the right technology and software to optimise efficiency, quality, and profitability.”

Separately, early adoptor ESP Colour has integrated GelatoConnect’s machine and product-agnostic software across all three of its modules – procurement, workflow, and logistics.

By the end of June, Swindon-based ESP’s current workflows will be replaced by GelatoConnect. The companies said this strategic move “aims to create a unified software solution” for the printer.

By adopting GelatoConnect, ESP Colour said it aims to consolidate all of its fragmented software systems into one.

ESP Colour has been part of Gelato’s extensive production-on-demand network since 2017 and, over the years, the business has seen accelerated production volume from Gelato. This means an exponential growth in micro-orders from e-commerce sellers.

ESP Colour CEO Simon Smogur commented: “Reducing cost and improving profitability in these short print runs is key for futureproofing your operations in the digital print industry.

“GelatoConnect ensures my machine parks are unified into one enterprise software, providing valuable production data in real-time across my entire facility. Gelato’s software is poised to redefine our industry. I’m witnessing in real-time, tangible improvements in our production efficiencies and cost base.”

He added: “Logistics is not just about reducing logistics costs, but even more importantly, eliminating the need to negotiate with carriers or troubleshoot label issues. This results in reducing my workforce in packing stations by anywhere between 20% to 30%.

“Gelato is the only company capable of delivering a unified software solution that truly meets the needs of modern print production.”

Müller-Hansen further commented: “ESP Colour has a leader in Simon who has experienced, firsthand, the speed of development and the unique machine-agnostic software power of GelatoConnect. By fully deploying GelatoConnect, ESP Colour is setting a new standard for efficiency and profitability in the print industry.”
