The latest addition to its range is the 1.6m wide SureColor SC-R5000, which uses Epson's operator replaceable PrecisionCore Micro TFP printheads.
The six-colour plus Optimizer machine runs Epson's new UltraChrome RS water-based resin inkset, which is a similar technology to those used in HP and Mimaki latex wide-format printers.
However, according to CMYUK, which stopped selling HP kit four years ago, the SureColor SC-R “puts pay to the many issues that have dogged Latex large-format printing over recent years” as it runs at less than 100 degrees Celsius, eliminating most issues with heat sensitive substrates, delivers panel-to-panel colour consistency, and has what CMYUK described as “class-leading linear feed accuracy”.
“It’s already garnering a great deal of interest, particularly in tandem with our eco materials. Although this is a first for Epson, this manufacturer has been offering an industrial label press running this type of ink for a decade,” said Sue Hayward, CMYUK sales director (equipment).
“Epson has engineered a fantastic product that does justice to this eco-friendly technology.”
Configured with three heating stations, pre-heat, platenheat, and post-cure heat output is ready for near instant post processing as there is no outgassing required.
It also comes with Epson’s Advanced Auto Tension Control (Ad-ATC) for dimensional stability required for tiled work, and can be configured with a bulk ink option, available on the SC-R5000 (L), which features 1.5 litre ink pouches for medium print volume outputs and a “hot-swappable” twin ink set for high print volumes.
“Epson is excited to extend its partnership with CMYUK to now include the SureColor SC-R5000 printer range,” said Phil McMullin, Epson head of sales Commercial, and Industrial Printing.
“CMYUK’s dramatic expansion of its sustainable material range, in combination with Epson’s new 100% water-based resin ink, offers its customers a truly eco-friendly way to produce outstanding displays and graphics.”
CMYUK first added Epson machines to its portfolio last April, and while the SC-R5000 began shipping last December, CMYUK focused on onboarding the manufacturer’s dye sub products and on bedding in its relationship before expanding into other products within its portfolio.
The SC-R5000 is available from CMYUK as of this month. Pricing starts from £21,495.
