It also handles borderless and dual board printing, and other features include automated maintenance, calibration and remote diagnostics.
Agfa is pushing inkjet as a core growth area for its business, and said the arrival of this machine confirms its commitment to the sector.
In addition to the XLS, the firm will launch its Mv and M4f Anapurna models at Drupa 2008. The machines are built around the Anapurna M and can print widths up to 160cm.
The Mv handles a spot of flood varnish to improve jobs, and the M4f will become the firm’s entry-level UV printer.
“The latest additions to the Anapurna family give Agfa one of the world’s widest ranges of wide-format UV printers,” said Willy Van Dromme, worldwide inkjet sales and marketing manager.
“Combined, our industrial inkjet line addresses nearly every possible segment-specific need in the digital press market. Visitors to Drupa will see how Agfa is now taking digital printing to greater heights,” he added.
The range also includes the L, XL, XL2 and M models.
