Lexon Group produces high-quality fashion work and PoS material for the retail industry. All work is manufactured in-house whether litho, screen or digital print. Our head office is in Newport, with offices in London and Isle of Man. The group employs 62 people and has a turnover of £6m.
Why did you make the investment in this system?
For the fashion sector we need to produce high-quality print to certified standards. As a result, we needed a system that was user-friendly and would enable us to offer ISO 12647 proofs to our clients to ensure colour accuracy.
What does the system do?
It is used by our pre-press department and also in the pressroom. Within pre-press it is used to output certified proofs using ProofSign. These are then checked in the pressroom against our print, which in turn is checked using pressSIGN. The result is a certified ISO 12647 product.
Why did you choose this particular system?
For the simplicity and accuracy of the software.
What features do you particularly like about it?
Using a ‘pass or fail' system we are able to quickly identify any major issues with either the proof or printed product. However, if more specific detail is needed with the colour information it is easily extracted from the on-screen information
Are there any features that you wish it had?
When we initially put the system in there wasn't a spot colour option on the colour bar for use within pressSIGN. However, Bodoni has just introduced this feature.
How reliable is it?
It's extremely reliable.
Is it easy to use?
Yes, but despite being easy-to-use, you are able to extract extremely complex data ensuring accurate calibration.
How much time or money would you estimate that it has saved your company?
It has saved a considerable amount of time due to the fact our proofs are accurate and this in turn ensures that we have much quicker makeready times on the press, being colour accurate within 50 sheets.
Has it won you any new work?
We use this on high-end fashion work and have won two new contracts on the back of this investment, as we have been able to demonstrate colour accuracy within each print project produced.
Would you say that it offers value for money?
Yes.
Were there any difficulties experienced during the installation?
No, it went smoothly.
What about the pre- and after-sale service?
Bodoni is extremely hands on and has helped us with all our requests including after-sale on-site visits to ensure smooth operating of the system
