The PrimeLink C9065 and C9070 colour printers will succeed the existing Color C60 and C70 models.
Designed for both production and high-volume office environments, these printers include a 10in touchscreen, making it easy to access general functions as well as cloud and productivity apps that automate tasks.
The devices feature 270ipm scanning, up to 70ppm printing, 2,400dpi colour image quality and “outstanding” fine-line detail, images, colour transitions and colour accuracy.
For production environments the machines offer heavyweight media and extra-long sheet (XLS) capabilities, supporting materials up to 660mm long. Also featured is oversized, high-capacity feeding, stacking, punching, two-sided and square trimming and booklet, tri-fold and up to five creases for Z-folding.
The machines, which can handle stock weighing up to 350gsm, are also equipped with the Simple Image Quality Adjustment (SIQA) tool and a choice of EFI servers.
Xerox senior vice-president of Global Offerings Tracey Koziol told Printweek: “The C60 and C70 have been going great guns but the improvements we’ve made with PrimeLink keep us ahead. Our goal is to retain market dominance in this area.”
Pricing for the machines was not disclosed but Koziol said it would be “competitive”.
Also new is Adaptive CMYK Plus Technology, which Xerox said augments the traditional CMYK offering.
An optional extra accessory that can be changed in and out of the printer in under 15 minutes, this kit expands the colour capabilities on the PrimeLink C9065 and C9070 printers with fluorescents, gold, silver, white and clear embellishments when needed.
A similar accessory available for users with existing C60 and C70 printers also offers capabilities beyond CMYK, with metallics, white and clear.
Xerox said this technology allows users in all fields to produce “brilliant and unique pieces” including greetings cards, flyers, invitations, posters and signage.
“We have been leading the way in terms of extensions on standard CMYK, especially up in the full-production graphic comms area, and we’ve seen a lot of demand at the smaller print shops too,” said Koziol.
“Customers want to be able to do embellishment [that] don’t necessarily have the volume that would fit the larger press.”
Xerox is taking orders for the PrimeLink C9065 and C9070 now, while order taking for the Adaptive CMYK Plus Technology for the new printers will begin in Q1 2020. The accessory is available with immediate effect for existing C60 and C70 models.
Xerox debuted both the new printers and the embellishment kit at Print 19, which is taking place in Chicago this week.
Separately, the manufacturer has unveiled two new enhancements for the iGen5 digital production colour cut-sheet press: the extra-long sheet (XLS) and Fluorescent Yellow Dry Ink.
The XLS kit, which can be retrofitted to existing iGen5s, enables up to a 889mm sheet size, prints at rated speed and has production feeding and stacking. The kit enables printers to deliver more pieces per sheet, increasing application productivity of the iGen5 by up to 25%.
Users can also target additional applications such as four-panel brochures, book covers, banners, large-format clings, panoramic artwork and multi-up printing.
Meanwhile, users can run the new Fluorescent Yellow Dry Ink in the iGen5’s fifth print station, in addition to existing orange, green and blue gamut extension colours as well as white and clear.
Specially formulated to glow under UV light, this option enables users to offer high-value jobs such as environmental health and safety (EH&S) caution and safety signage, book covers, dust jackets, folding cartons, direct mailers and collaterals.
“By adding these capabilities, it shows that we’re still investing in and futureproofing our products as they stay out there in the field for quite some time,” said Koziol.
“On the XLS, being able to go from 26 to 35 inches opens up a lot of new doors in terms of applications. In terms of our focus on total productivity across the press, we believe it’s going to really have an effect.”
The XLS kit and Fluorescent Yellow Dry Ink will be available for order taking in the UK “from Q4 2019”.
