The enhancement involves two new modules: ‘Read Properties’ and ‘Write Properties’.
OneVision said the new tools “greatly simplify the implementation of intelligent workflow automation and workflow control for print businesses” and helped users achieve error-free print files.
Read Properties takes XML information from web-to-print, MIS systems and databases and converts it into properties that are then used in the workflow.
“The trick is that this automation can be created without any programming knowledge thanks to the intuitive user guidance,” OneVision stated.
The Write Properties module reports the production status back to the MIS, or other devices such as post-press machinery, as XML.
The new version of Workspace Pro X, version 20.2, also allows users to set up their own bespoke ‘Custom Properties’ for tasks such as routing or the renaming of files.
OneVision said that JDF or JMF information can now be exchanged with “any print production software or hardware” that also supports JDF/JMF.
The new version is available immediately as a free of charge update to existing customers with an annual maintenance and service agreement.
The new features are explained in detail in a webinar that can be viewed on demand via the OneVision site.
