The UJF-3042HG is the "high gap" version of Mimaki's best-selling UV printer; it features a head gap of 150mm versus 50mm on the UJF-3042FX, which Mimaki cut the price of in a similar move last December.
Both models feature the same A3 (300x420mm) bed and are designed to print directly onto objects made of plastic, metal, glass, wood and other rigid substrates. The UJF-3042 is aimed at the promotional products, bespoke gifts and manufacturing markets.
One of the criticism of the machine in the past has been the fact it can only print onto relatively flat substrates. Mimaki has addressed this with the addition of the "Kebab" - a bolt-on unit that enables the printer to print all the way around the circumference of cylindrical objects.
Mimaki said that this would open up the market for packaging proofing, as well as decorative products such as candles, vases, bottles and cans.
Stuart Cole, national sales managert for Mimaki's UK & Ireland distributor Hybrid Services, said: "The highly competitive new price for the UJF-3042HG represents extremely good value for money, given the revenue generating opportunities the printer affords.
"Its low running costs, strong green credentials and highly creative potential ensure print providers can make an ever stronger case for investing in this popular machine."
