Available to order direct from Kongsberg PCS as of today (26 May), the Kongsberg C20 retains all of the features of the existing larger machines in the C Series but has a compact size of 1.6x1.4m.

“We know that industrial manufacturers, as well as small sign shops, require a high-speed cutting table to keep up with the manufacturing process, but floorspace comes at a premium,” said Kongsberg PCS president Stuart Fox.

“The high cost of owning or renting space is a serious problem for many in the sign and display market. With the new Kongsberg C20, there is no longer any need for those businesses to compromise on production and quality due to a lack of available space.”

With a maximum cutting speed of 100m/min, the C20 uses aerospace technology, combining an aluminium composite tabletop, a rack and pinion drive system, and dynamic table mapping, which the manufacturer said together deliver the greatest cutting accuracy and consistency.

Multiple tool combinations are available during production, and the tooling system includes a material thickness probe and an optional camera for registering printed and unprinted material.

“As with our entire C Series range, Kongsberg high performance tooling has been specifically developed to further increase throughput and quality for users,” said Fox.

“The Kongsberg C20 is an investment that will help drive the owner’s creativity and production to new levels.”

Kongsberg PCS told Printweek that customers would need to speak directly to its sales team or resellers for pricing, but that the machine is “competitively priced” and that its small footprint and high speed “represents an investment in the future for smaller businesses”.

Kongsberg PCS became a standalone company last month following its acquisition from Esko last year by private equity firm OpenGate Capital.
