The new AccurioPress C7100 series joins the manufacturer’s existing C- range spanning light to high production, and succeeds the C6100 models.
The AccurioPress C7090 runs at 90ppm (A4 colour), and the C7100 at 100ppm, with duty cycles of 1.62m and 1.8m prints respectively.
SRA3 colour print speed is 48ppm (C7090) or 53ppm (C7100). The devices can also handle envelopes.
Resolution is the equivalent of 3,600x2,400dpi, and the devices can automatically detect the type of media being used through the new IM-101 Intelligent Media Sensor.
In addition, the IQ-501 Intelligent Quality Optimizer monitors and maintains colour consistency, variable data and registration “in real time” during production.
Stock weights from 52-400gsm can be handled, and the C7100 series can also auto-duplex 900mm long banner products for applications such as multi-panel folded brochures and posters.
The digital presses use KM’s latest Simitri V toner, described as “formulated for performance” and with a smaller particle size that KM said had distinct advantages when printing onto structured or textured papers.
The devices use the inline cutter/finisher first seen on the top end C14000 range.
This allows four-edge trimming and also cuts, creases and perforates, and comes with what KM described as “a complete series of profiles” for different types of job.
“One operator can run even the most complex products – this opens up a lot of opportunities,” said Edoardo Cotichini, senior manager for professional print at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe.
Perfect binding, GBC wire-binding units, square folding and multi-letter fold-in are also available among a host of configuration options.
Customers have the option of four frontends depending on the type of work being produced and level of processing/variable data required. They are the KM Image Controller IC-609, The Fiery IC-318L, Fiery IC-319, and Creo IC-316.
Dino Pagliarello, senior vice president for production management and planning at the division’s USA operation, said KM was claiming a leadership position in automation, colour management and finishing.
“These are the most automated capabilities in a mid-range production device,” he stated.
The new devices print in CMYK only. KM said it was exploring the potential for additional colours such as white or clear toner “but the ROI has to be there”.
KM has not disclosed pricing for the new models.
