The Job Manager sits between a customer's central IT network and folder-gluer and die-cutter machines to streamline workflows and speed up makereadies for jobs such as carton folding.
The equipment was launched at a Kama open house around a month ago and cost will depend on MIS systems, configuration and compatibility. The kit – a workstation with computer and diecutter storage - links the Kama ProFold and ProCut or FlexFold and ProCut machines.
Technical sales manager for Kama supplier Friedheim International, Jonathan Long, said: “Folder gluers can be finickity and take lots of time to set everything up for a job.
“Job Manager, however, drastically reduces makereadies from a couple of hours to five to 15 minutes. It connects seamlessly with the software of machines and meshes with the MIS of any company.”
The computer runs the new Kama Job Manager software and comes with CPX or Cockpit technology. Integration of the tool will be done through the customer’s own MIS. The system receives job data from the pre-press department – number of sheets, substrate, tools – and saves them together with the machine settings.
Job Manager calculates the SBU settings and optimum foil feed and sends the details to the machine. It then collects data from the machines and transmits them to the MIS in real time.
Once the job is done, the Job Manager saves all data and machine settings and sends a report to the MIS. The complete job data are then available for repeat orders instantly.
Meanwhile Friedheim will be taking a handful of UK customers to an application day open house from 18 to 21 June in Dresden.
On show will be the ProCut 76 FOIL die-cutter with foiling module in-line with the ProFold 74 folder gluer for folding, gluing and dispensing.
The second focus is on applications for the packaging industry and will include the new folder gluer for folded cartons, Kama FF 52i. This will work with a ProCut 76 FOIL.
The last open house, in late March, involved 80 people from eight countries from central and eastern Europe.
